So you want to add a motion sensor to your front door light?

Relax, this is going to be easy.

I already have Home Assistant set up on a docker container on my Raspberry Pi so this is just the process of adding one of many ESPHome devices.

Let's see the parts for this build ->

...

For the uninitiated, there's an ESP8266 - the brains, a PIR Motion Sensor, a dual channel Relay to do the actual switching and a PSU to power this mini circuit.

Time to put it all together!

...

This was the easy part.

Do not repeat the next step at home ->.

...

Yes this is my home. But don't worry I'm a pRoFeSsiOnAl.

After literally squeezing the guts in ->

...

Let's design a new plate for it now,

...

And model it into Fusion 360.

...

Okay we can print it now!

...

Still printing...

...

Done!

...

And here it is after installation which involved obscene amounts of glue gun usage ->

...

Success!

Now the front door light turns on when someone comes to the door but only when it's dark outside! Plus a secret thing which the other relay does. I won't bore you with the code now. Maybe next time :)
